An Outdoor Hammock Swing of My Childhood

"An Outdoor Hammock Swing of My Childhood"

Growing up I remembered always having an outdoor hammock bed hanging outside of my home. It was an adults’ favorite place to take a nap but they would never allow little children to stay on by themselves probably because of the fear of falling down.

Once we grew older with our arms and legs long enough to touch the ground, the hammock is no longer a restricted place. Instead, it became our coveted spot to sit, read and nap. Many times this very same Jute hammock swing also doubled as a playground for swing competition among siblings, always providing us with a fun time until we heard a yell from our parents when they found out.

Although that piece of outdoor hammock swing has already retired, every time our family talks about the swing competition, we can’t help thinking and adoring this old hammock for its durability which is comparable to ones made with plastic and for the comfort that it provided when you sleep. The flow of light wind that passed through the hammock caressed your skin like a lullaby. For us, this old hammock is a reminder of the laughter and the good times of our childhood.
